7 years, think about it...... 7 years, that is quite a long time.  It has been 7 years since the Friars have won the League Dual Meet Title.  Between 1999 and 2002 the Friars hoisted the Championship Plaque 3 of the 4 years, however it would be seven long years before the Championship was brought back to its rightful place.  Teams would come and go, teams that were lead by some of the most successful wrestlers ever to don the black and gold singlet.  But these teams somehow came up on the short end of the stick year after year.  However this team would not follow suit, instead they would rise to the occasion.  After soundly defeating Chaminade (44-35) a few weeks ago the Friars would face off against Kellenburg. The team would scratch out the win (39-34) in nail biting fashion, thanks to the absence of 4 starters from the Varsity line up.  There was only 1 more hurdle left to clear, the increasingly talented team of St. John the Baptist.  Being that it was the last home dual meet it was Senior Night.  The line up was filled with more seniors than normal.  The lights went dark and the spotlight shined on the mat.  The team responded with a dominating performance, scoring 74 team points via 8 pins, 2 techs, and 3 decisions (1 being a major).  The Friars will look to ride this momentum into the weekend for the League Tournament (which hasn't been won since 2001).
